Serious Business Tonight: Free-For-All

Well, I’m honestly used to having a week to procrastinate on new material for Serious Business, but because we did last Wednesday’s show on Sunday and there’s another show tonight, I didn’t have the usual time to sit on it and then panic two hours before the show. Lack of material notwithstanding, we’re going to DO IT LIVE regardless. I have a feeling tonight’s Serious Business may take quite a meteorological bent, as severe weather season kicked in a bit early last night with some unfortunately fatal tornadoes in Oklahoma.

So, you’re asking, what happened to last week’s show? Well…I had a few bandwidth glitches getting going on Ustream, and I *thought* I was recording. That, in fact, didn’t happen. FAIL. And it was a good show, too — we talked about @chstweets, Latitude, Brightkite, and other cool things. I’ll be doing a series of posts over on the namesake about those topics soon.

Planning Shows Should Be More Serious Business Than I Make It Out To Be

Look, I’ll be frank (oh God, here goes that Transparency and Openness crap again). I’m a gigantic procrastinator. For some reason, I like pressure, blah blah blah.

However, as I get older and my hair increasingly decides it no longer likes my head, I find that this procrastination thing works less and less to my advantage. So, I realize the need for an agenda for at least half of Serious Business.

However, I awoke from an unplanned nap at 8:40 this evening in a cold sweat, realizing that in fact I had not even begun to think about an agenda for the show. Shameful. There’s so much SERIOUSness going on around the Internets and I’m not even absorbing it for a half hour of material (that we likely wouldn’t even get to because the chat room is so dynamic). But yeah.

There’s good stuff to talk about: Identi.ca’s redesign and new groups feature is high up there, and could even lead the show. I haven’t seen too terribly many bitchmemes to ridicule, which is almost a bummer (almost). We’ll have another #meatwaffles report as there’s been another sighting in the wild. We’ll likely hear from Mr. Blend and other fine folks. And, as always, I’ll take your calls over Skype (add jaredisseriousbusiness to your contact list). Afterward, Charleston locals shouldn’t forget the Serious Business After-Party, which will happen at Gene’s Haufbrau on Savannah Highway directly after the show is over.

Well, that wasn’t so hard now, was it? See you tomorrow night at 8:30 ET (or 5:30 PT, if that’s how you roll.)
